This week saw parts of the country venture out of lockdown for the first time in a month, which for many people, was more than enough reason to get celebrating!
After spending the best part of the past four weeks cooped up indoors without the ability to socialise with loved ones, a huge number of people seemed eager to let loose and enjoy the relaxation of the rules with a post-lockdown party. And since nothing brings people together (or in this case, back together) quite like a delicious spread, Hog Roast Lucan was the first choice for many of them – including Gary.
Having placed his booking soon after the lockdown was announced, the knowledge of there being a tasty hog roast waiting at the end of the tunnel was enough motivation to get Gary through the four sluggish weeks that were laid out in front of him. His patience brought him gradually closer to the well-deserved treat, until Wednesday when he finally got the chance to sink his teeth into the long-awaited feast!
While the host prepared for his small celebration, which saw a bubble of his closest family finally come together outdoors, Hog Roast Lucan spent the afternoon preparing the meal for the evening. The client had pre-selected our classic hog roast menu, with some additional sides to spice up the meal, which is well known for its crowd-pleasing qualities.
The hours of cooking the suckling pig on a rotisserie skewer were soon up, and after expertly carving off the layer of crackling, the catering team quickly transformed the glistening interior into pulled pork, which they piled onto soft gluten-free rolls and smothered with homemade applesauce, zesty slaw and a leafy salad. With the food piping hot and ready to go, Hog Roast Lucan added the final touch (cheese and jalapeno smothered fries!) before carefully packing up the meal and travelling to the client’s home.
Gary and his small group of guests greeted our team with a warm welcome before digging into the flavoursome food which lifted everyone’s spirits and made the outdoor gathering in the bitter cold feel much more bearable.
