Loneliness is an unseen factor in the lives of some old aged pensioners up and down the country, but at Hog Roast St Doolaghs’s local church loneliness is a thing of the past. The church hired the Hog Roast St Doolaghs team to cater for a special OAP event, after an evening of bingo the guest list of 28 lucky pensioners would tuck into a feast fit for Kings.
The clients wanted a special, formal sit down meal for their guests. Even though the venue was the church hall the feel of the event was one of formality, and the team would provide wait service, so it was almost as if the guests were eating out at a fine restaurant.
As the bingo was packed away and the tables laid by the Hog Roast St Doolaghs team the experienced wait staff served trays of tasty canapés. The guests could pick from a whole variety of little nibbles, from vegetarian mini pizza, mini quiche, pate encroute, chicken satay and halloumi kebabs. The wait staff also served the non-alcoholic beverages that were provided by the clients, so that the evening really felt like fine dining at a fancy restaurant for the guests.
The main course was served as a buffet but assisted by the wait staff, so that every guest could eat exactly what they wanted from the buffet table. The main attraction at the buffet table was succulently slow roasted spring lamb that was served with rosemary, mint and a mustard and dill sauce. Or if the guests wanted there was an equally mouth-watering vegetarian alternative on offer at the table. There were also platters of steaming hot seasonal vegetables, as well as roasted new potatoes that were seasoned with sea salt and rosemary.
The main course was especially designed to be filling for the guests, the clients were determined that no one should go home hungry. Following the main course the guests could choose between two truly tempting puddings. They could have a delicious handmade individual vanilla cheesecake with a crumbly biscuit base, or they could have a sweet fresh fruit salad; both options could be served with fresh cream according to the wishes of the individual.
The wait staff were experienced and friendly, ready to help by carrying the guests’ china crockery from the buffet table to the seating areas. After the dirty dishes had been whisked away, so that the Hog Roast St Doolaghs team could wash and reuse them, the whole team spent a few minutes with the clients and guests, determined to make sure that everyone was satisfied and no longer lonely.
