Saturday evening came around fast for birthday girl Brittany. Brittany, being a complete and utter foodie had decided to use the one and only Hog Roast Killiney to help her with her 40th celebrations. The menu was nice and simple: Hog Roast (with all the trimmings of course!), Hog Roast Killiney’s speciality.
Hog Roast Killiney’s catering manager, had started cooking the pig 12 hours prior to the event. The long cooking time on low heat ensures a melt-in-the-mouth experience of succulent pulled pork. The time between leaving Hog Roast Killiney’s unit and arriving to the event gives the meat time to rest. During this resting period the juices get soaked up back into the meat providing a wondrous tender pig. What’s a hog roast without stuffing?! Hog Roast Killiney’s catering manager guarantees a flavourful accompaniment by stealing some of the pig’s cooking juices and adding it in to his tasty sage and onion breadcrumbs. The way the pig is prepped before being cooked equates to nice and crunchy crackling. Which all comes together in a nice soft roll – white, wholemeal or cheesy! Additionally, what’s pork without apple sauce?! Even though apple sauce will always be pork’s favourite condiment, other sauces such as sweet chilli and bbq are also an option. Nevertheless, mayonnaise was the crowd pleaser at Brittany’s party!
Brittany had Hog Roast Killiney’s team set up in the centre of her fabulous garden patio. Centre of the patio and centre of the party! Arriving 3 hours prior to guests meant that the guests all arrived to the mouth-watering smell of hog roast. It also meant that the team was not in the way trying to set up around guests. Bonus for the hosts as well as Hog Roast Killiney. There was a nice and steady flow during the two hour serve with plenty of guests coming up for seconds (and thirds)! Brittany thoroughly enjoyed her cheese-topped roll filled to the brim of delicious pork, stuffing and apple sauce. The birthday girl found the crackling irresistible, coming up four times to get some more! In her words “it is just so nourish”!
