From tempting handmade canapés to multiple-course menus and options to suit all kinds of tastes, appetites and diets, Hog Roast Drimnargh is so much more than hog roasts. While a good old traditional centrepiece hog roast is our well-loved signature dish, which we do extremely well, after refining them over many years, we’ve also spent a long time providing all kinds of other dishes, so when we cater for you, you know that all of your guests will be well-fed, and not just the majority.
When Maggie, a wedding coordinator, contacted Hog Roast Drimnargh to book us for her clients’ wedding day, she had been instructed to make arrangements for a starter, main course and dessert to be served to the couple and their forty-five guests. The wedding ceremony and reception were being held in the grounds of a lovely 4-star hotel, inside a marquee, and we would be cooking and serving inside to the seated guests, as well as serving a hog roast buffet-style.
Maggie and the couple had spent a long time perusing our menus to create the perfect three-course menu, and they decided on smoked salmon to begin with, followed by our sumptuous pigs in buns and sweet potato wedges, and then finished off nicely with a duo of puddings – vacherins of strawberries and passion fruit cream and fresh fruit salad.
On the day of the wedding reception, our Hog Roast Drimnargh worked for hours creating an impressive feast, which started with preparing and cooking the hog, which sizzled away for more than five hours. Later on in the day, we freshly prepared the starter, with the finest smoked salmon, prawns and avocado, which would be served with curly endive and a mustard and dill dressing. We also made the desserts from scratch inside the marquee and then prepared the fixings for the pigs in buns – our own apple sauce and stuffing, fresh bread rolls and wraps and a selection of sauces – and before long it was time to cook the wedges too.
By 5pm, the guests had all arrived and after congratulating the new bride and groom, they all sat down together to enjoy a gorgeous meal prepared by our hardworking team using fresh, tasty, high-quality ingredients.
